Gene Therapy Methods
Two main approaches for gene therapy Methods:
1) In-vivo therapy
2) Ex-vivo therapy
In-vivo therapy
Invivo Gene therapy occurs when individual cells can’t be cultured in vitro because of insufficient number of cells. In the case of in-vivo transfer, the cloned genes enrolled directly into the tissue of the Patient’s organ. The process of in-vivo therapy is the less selection and amplification of cells that take up & expose the foreign gene.
Ex-Vivo Gene Therapy
In Ex-vivo gene therapy, the genes are transferred into the cells ingrown culture and then introduced into the patient. During this process, the autologous cells circumvent immune system repudiation of the introduced cells. Ex-vivo gene therapy leads to tissues like skin cells and hematopoietic cells that can be dislodged from the body, genetically treated outside the body, and then re-introduced into the specific site of the body.
